Jenny, the Take That fan

I met Jenny when I started work experience - at what was then, the University of North London, back in 1992.  I was a shy, quiet young girl, and the 'whirlwind' that was Jenny took me under her wing.  We became very dear friends and I'm pleased to say we remained so to this day.  Jenny was larger than life. She lit up every room with her charisma and wit and filled it with her laugh. She showed more love and compassion than anyone I've ever known - and I'm blessed to have had her in my life.

When working in Kentish Town with Jenny, I managed to brainwash her and she became a big Take That fan. I still see her doing the dance routine to 'Prey' in the middle of the office while students were coming in and out for help. One of my best memories took place when we both went to one of the TT concerts back in 2011 (Pic 1 & 2). Unfortunately, Jenny been involved in a car accident about a week before the concert and had a stretchy bandage on her foot.  While at lunch, I jokingly (half jokingly) said it was a shame she didn't need to be in a wheelchair as it would have helped us get closer at the concert. After a couple of seconds of silence, Jenny looked at me, and I looked at her - and we needed no further encouragement!  I called the stadium the next day to explain our situation and they said 'no problem, just report to the office when you arrive' - so I managed to get hold of a wheelchair from my friends sister (as you do) - and on the day of the concert, Jenny was really game and sat in the wheelchair for me to push her....it was only at that point that we discovered the chair had a flat tire and was therefore almost impossible to push!  We finally made it to the stadium - and was completely gobsmacked when we were led to the front of the stage (while my sister and friend had to make do with our original seats at the back of the stadium).  The concert was great - although poor Jenny was desperate to get up and dance and I had to keep pushing her down!  Well, after the concert, we were mucking around that much that by the time we arrived at the stairs to leave - the wheelchair lift had been switched off.  After a few minutes of trying to work out what to do, 4 massive security guys came running up the stairs to us and each took a corner of the chair and lifted her - at which point Jenny screamed and jumped out of the chair!!!  It was only when she was half way down the stairs that she remembered about her 'injury' and started to limp the rest of the way!!! ðŸ˜‚  I can still hear Jenny's laugh booming across the stadium - we've never laughed so hard.

The thought of Jenny makes me smile and brings me so many good memories.  I will miss her dearly.
