Love, light and laughter

To know Jenny is to love her. How could it be any other?  Once met, never forgotten.  And to become her friend is both an honour and a joy that will always remain with us.  Aglow with generosity of spirit, compassion, and love of life, and bubbling over with impish humour and fun.  It was almost as if, from the first moment we met, the children inside us recognized one another and pledged to become playmates for life.

On the first day of my new job at the University, there was a card and gift* waiting on my desk to welcome me.  This first of many gifts is by my side now, as I write these words over thirty years later.  Yes, she gave me the sun and the moon.  And that’s what she quickly became to me – my sun and moon.  Always and forever.

Our friendship piloted us through light and darkness, and Jenny was always there at the helm, navigating her beloveds through both phases.  Gentle gestures of love and support would arrive at just the right moment; gifts and cards would turn up to brighten the day, along with timely texts and emails.  She was connected with her (many) friends and beloved family members at the deepest level; encouraging hopes and dreams, soothing anxieties, seeking justice, offering protection and guidance, and embracing us with affection.  Oh, and laughing so uproariously that we lost all control!  Her merriment was infectious, as was her kind-heartedness and empathy.

Yes, to know Jenny is to love her, and to be loved by her.  And what a privilege it is to have been able to share our lives with such a beautiful, special soul.  Thank you, my darling Jenny for all that you are to us, all that you mean to us, and all that you have done to light up our lives.    xxx
