Never Forget

My lovely friend, Jenny.
Where do I begin? To be honest I’m finding myself woefully lacking in words.
You came into my life in 1998 and for the last 22 years you continued to share with me your fabulous positive energy, generosity of spirit, kindness, admin skills, chocolate truffles and dirty laugh!
One of the best decisions I ever made was applying for the admin job in the University of North London’s Interfaculty Studies Office, where you were my boss. You always encouraged a great working ethos and were a wonderful friend. As an extra bonus I got to meet my future husband Graham too. Don’t worry, I’m sure he’s never really held it against you for giving me that job, Lol!
Back in the day you helped to keep me grounded at a time when I was floundering and I tried to help you to take a breather from some of the overload of university work you took on. It always concerned me that you crammed so much into your day and then worked on into the middle of the night on your union, activism and peace-making concerns, but that’s where you got your real sense of purpose though wasn’t it.
Of course it wasn’t all work, we usually found time to fit in some play. Friday after 4pm ‘choosing time’ was always a particular favourite and our shared love of the creation of the office Christmas Grotty was a joy!  Once you’d moved on to City University it was great that you were happy to still join in, when I set up our ‘Ex Interfaculty Xmas’ annual get together. Sadly if we’re even allowed to go ahead with that in this year of Covid, it will never be the same without you, my lovely.

I just want to say thank you so much for sharing your magic with me and that I hope that dream weaver is now allowing you the peace you so deserve.

Love and miss you Jen.
